11th annual camp for middle/high school
CAMP GUIDELINES AND INFORMATION ARE TO INSURE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR CAMPERS AND VOLUNTEERS. WE TRY AND GIVE YOU A LOOK AT CAMP SO YOU CAN MAKE THE BEST DECISION FOR YOUR CHILD. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL US ON THE CONTACT PAGE.
AFTER READING CAMP GUIDELINES AND YOUR CHILD DOESN'T MEET THE REQUIREMENTS WE WELCOME A PARENT TO STAY WITH THEIR CHILD DURING CAMP.
Private sleeping accommodations can be arranged for a camper and parent if needed to enjoy camp to the fullest. However, they do not have a bathroom located in the cabin, it's in the dining hall about 100 feet away.
CAMP IS FOR MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL BOYS AND GIRLS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. aged 12-22 with no, or next to no, behavioral or ADL needs who will thrive socially, emotionally, and educationally. Campers who are right for this environment exhibit no, or next to no, behavioral issues including significant meltdowns, self-injurious behaviors, etc., need no, or next to no, assistance with activities of daily living (i.e. bathing, feeding, etc) outside of what usual for a child of their age.
WE HAVE TWO BUNK STYLE HOUSES WITH 16 OTHER CAMPER AND COUNSELORS IN EACH BUNKHOUSE. AFTER 10 YEARS WE UNDERSTAND HOW EXCITED OUR CAMPERS ARE ESPECIALLY ON THE FIRST NIGHT AND SLEEP MAY BE A LITTLE HARD THE FIRST NIGHT. IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT ABLE TO ADJUST TO SLEEPING IN THIS TYPE OF ENVIRONMENT WE MAY BE ABLE TO FIND A DIFFERENT ARRANGEMENT FOR THEM TO SLEEP. PARENT MUST BE PRESENT FOR THIS OPTION AND A FEE MAY OR MAY NOT APPLY, THAT DECISION IS UP TO THE CAMP STAFF.
THE HILL. CAMP BA YO CA HAS A LARGE GRAVEL HILL THAT THE CAMPERS WILL WALK-UP SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE WEEKEND FOR ACTIVITIES AND TO EAT AND THE BUNKHOUSES ARE LOCATED AT THE TOP. IT CAN BE HOT AND THIER IS JUST NO WAY AROUND WALKING UP THE HILL DUE TO HOW THE CAMP IS LAYED OUT.
CAMP TIME IS SPENT IN GROUPS OF 8-10 PEOPLE MADE UP OF OTHER CAMPERS AND PEERS AND COUNSELORS. CAMPER NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO STAY WITH GROUP DURING ALL ACTIVITIES IF THE CAMPER DECIDES THEY NO LONGER WANT TO PARTICIPATE AND WE FAIL TO CONVINCE THEM TO STAY WITH GROUP WE WILL CALL THE PARENTS TO TALK WITH THEIR CHILD. IF AFTER THE PARENT CONVERSATION THE CAMPER STILL CHOOSES NOT TO PARTICIPATE THE PARENTS WILL NEED TO COME TO PICK THEM UP OR ARE WELCOME TO STAY AT CAMP WITH THEIR CHILD AND CONTINUE CAMP.
OUR CAMP IS MADE UP OF PARENT VOLUNTEERS AND PEERS FROM MIDDLE/HIGH AND COLLEGE. MOST OF THE PARENTS HAVE CHILDREN WITH VARIOUS DISABILITIES AND OUR PEERS HAVE ALL HAD EXPERIENCE IN EITHER HIGH SCHOOL OR COLLEGE WORKING WITH OUR KIDS. WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH OUR VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE RETURN TO HELP FOR MANY YEARS NOW. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT US WITH ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE.
COST $175 INCLUDES ALL MEALS (IF YOUR CHILD IS ON A SPECIAL DIET YOU WILL HAVE TO SEND ALL FOOD NEEDED FOR THE WEEKEND) ACTIVITIES, LODGING, T-SHIRT AND NEW FRIENDS AND GREAT MEMORIES.
