EVERY PURCHASE WILL HELP SUPPORT OUR PROGRAMS
With a national divorce rate of 87% among families who have children with disabilities, ODTN provides a weekend retreat for two-parent families, providing each couple the opportunity to refocus on their marriage, receive guidance for rebuilding fragile relationships, and receive encouragement for strengthening their commitment to one another. The camp is held at Fort Bluff camp in Dayton, TN. Trained volunteers are partnered with personal buddies for the children from each family to assist them in planned activities. Following the retreat, 12 monthly activities are planned and hosted by area churches to keep the families in contact with one another to build community. The retreat is provided 2-3 times a year with new participants each retreat.
Miss Shining Star
All girls age two and up are invited to participate in the Miss Shining Star pageant for those with special needs. This pageant provides an opportunity for girls to have their moment on stage and, if desired, participate in the talent competition. The first year had 23 participants, which grew to almost 50 by the second year.
As the pageant continues to grow, age divisions are now divided into 4 separate pageants all held on the same day. This year's pageant will be held at the beautiful Cornerstone Church of Knoxville at the corner of Pellissippi Parkway and Westland Road.
MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL CAMP FOR KIDS DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISM
A weekend-long camp is provided each summer for those in middle and high school who have been diagnosed with Autism. Participants enjoy a day of crafts, swimming, archery, games and a variety of other activities designed specifically to meet their needs.
This event will be going on our 10th year in 2019. Thanks to the Oak Ridge Whitewater club for hosting this event for all 9 years. We enjoy a fun day at the lake canoeing and Kayaking, cookout and a fellowship at Clark Center Park in Oak Ridge, TN. This event is free to all our guest.
ODTN Homeschool co-op
We don't concentrate on what someone doesn't have. We concentrate on what they do. Our goal is to build them up with positive support to be successful. This program is a parent lead group for the last 5 years with academics and field trips from through out the homeschool year.
